William Henry Barrington papers, 1921-1965.

The collection consists of 6 files of photographs, 1921-1925 and 1955-1965, most of which pertain to Norwich University parades and formations, rook week and student life during William Barrington's sons' tenure at Norwich. There are also a limited number of photographs (3 large matted photographs) dating from 1921-1925, when William Barrington was a Norwich student. Also included are photographs documenting William Barrington's post-Norwich military career including two rolled, panoramic group photographs. There are also papers, 1924-1925, 1933, 1940-1948, and 1951-1957, the majority of which pertain to Barrington's post-Norwich military career during World War II (in the United States) and in the Reserves. The 68th Army Air Force Training Detachment at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, is well represented in Barrington's papers from 1943 and 1944.

Originally from Greensboro, VT, William Barrington was an outstanding varsity track athlete, capturing first place in the mile and half-mile in the 1924 Vermont state championship and earning first in the mile and second in the half-mile in the 1924 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association meet.
